Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was a speaker, investor, and businesswoman from the United America. In 2001, she founded The Corcoran Group in New York City. She sold the brokerage to NRT for $66 million. Then, shortly after she left the company. Corcoran was one of ABC's original Shark investors, has been a part of each episode of Shark Tank. Corcoran has signed 53 deals as of February 2020. The biggest deal she signed was her investment of $350,000 into Coverplay for 40%. Corcoran was the second of a family of 10 children born to a working class Irish-Catholic couple in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mother and was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr., her father, was constantly changing jobs throughout Corcoran’s life. Her family sometimes relied on free food delivery from a nearby supermarket. Corcoran recalls that her father was an alcohol-dependent drunkard who often treated her mother with disrespect and disrespect, especially after having consumed alcohol. Corcoran was a troubled student throughout school. Later, she discovered she had dyslexia. Corcoran went to a Catholic primary school within her neighborhood and started high school in St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran was absent from several classes in her first year before transferring to Leonia High School where she was an A student.
